CLIENT

Small, specialized high school in Chicago for students with special needs

SITUATION

The Board of Directors identified a strong need to diversify sources of school funding, expand/strengthen the services offered to current students and increase student enrollment.

APPROACH

Over the course of 2 months, ThreePoint Consulting:

  • Clarified school leader priorities and plans to expand student services
  • Interviewed directors at larger therapeutic day schools to learn what grants have been obtained in recent years
  • Interviewed school leaders at nearby districts to learn about the requirements of their special needs students and what selection process they use to place students in therapeutic day schools
  • Completed extensive research to identify a comprehensive list of databases and clearinghouses of information on relevant funding sources
  • Created a database of relevant grants including descriptions,
    requirements, contact information, and deadlines
  • Developed an action plan to organize and execute the school’s grant writing effort

RESULTS

We identified grants worth hundreds of thousands of dollars that were available within six months following project completion. The school implemented the grant writing action plan.
